YRS

Yaw Rate Sensor.

Part of the ESP system, this sensor measures the rotational speed of the car, know as Yaw.

When the car is moving forward in the direction set by the steering wheel the rotational rate would be virtually zero, but if the front or rear of the car starts to slide out, the car will begin to rotate and the sensor detects this.

The Yaw data is used by the ESP system to predict the unintended path of the car and to allow it to calculate the appropriate action to bring the car back in-line. This may include braking one or more of the wheels or applying more or less engine torque
